Plus One - Who can I bring?

“I was invited to a wedding and received the Save the Date six months in advance but was not given a ‘plus one.’ At the time of the Save the Date, I was single, but am now in a relationship and will be at the time of the wedding. Is it ok to bring a date?”

Weddings take meticulous planning and budgeting, and if the bride and groom chose not to give you a ‘plus one,’ it was likely for a reason. It is best to let this go and have a good time with the people you know at this event. If it is a more casual affair, and you are close with the bride or groom, you could ask the bride and groom if they would mind if you had a guest join you after dinner is served, toward the end of the evening. If they refuse, it is best to honor their wishes and to go celebrate with them as the invitation intended.
