Basic Gym Etiquette

The gym is not a place one would generally think of etiquette, but out of respect for your fellow gym members, here are a few tips to keep in mind during your next workout:

  • Re-rack the weights, put them back in order

  • If you use a mat or a medicine ball etc., put it back when you are finished

  • Do not hog a machine, be aware of your surroundings and be courteous – look around yourself, and ask if people near you are using a piece of equipment before hopping on and adjusting the weight for your workout

  • Wipe the sweat off of the equipment

  • Do not make loud noises – even in the most challenging sets, it is not necessary to sound like a gorilla

  • Keep a towel on yourself in the locker room, not everyone is as comfortable looking at your family jewels as you may be…

  • Be aware of your personal space, and the space of others.
